The iconic No. 18, deeply associated with NASCAR legend Kyle Busch, will be featured in the 110th Indianapolis 500. Dale Coyne Racing, fielding Romain Grosjean's No. 18 Honda, will display the classic number.
This tribute honors Busch's significant career in NASCAR, particularly his championship seasons with Joe Gibbs Racing where he used the No. 18 for 15 years. The M&M's paint schemes featuring this number are vividly remembered by fans.
The initiative, conceived by IndyCar commentator Townsend Bell, required coordination with Joe Gibbs Racing for the use of the trademarked number. While Busch never competed in IndyCar, he achieved considerable success at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in NASCAR.
Busch's brother, Kurt Busch, previously attempted the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 doubleheader in 2014. The current No. 18 car, driven by Grosjean, will start Sunday's race from 24th position.
