Kwame Brown: Lakers' No. 1 Pick Bust?

Kwame Brown, the highly touted No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft, ultimately became one of the biggest disappointments in draft history. Initially envisioned as a future superstar, Brown struggled to meet expectations throughout his career. His time with the Los Angeles Lakers saw him average 7.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game over three and a half seasons. He was acquired by the Lakers in 2005 as part of a trade that sent Caron Butler and Chucky Atkins to the Washington Wizards. Despite the change of scenery, Brown's offensive game remained underdeveloped, and he was considered a significant liability. In February 2008, Brown was traded away from the Lakers as a key piece in the blockbuster deal that brought Pau Gasol to Los Angeles, instantly transforming the team into championship contenders. Brown continued playing in the NBA until the 2012-13 season, but never recaptured the early promise of his draft position.
