The New York Knicks are organizing watch parties at Radio City Music Hall, Wollman Rink in Central Park, and outside Madison Square Garden for Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Saturday night. This initiative follows several violent incidents and arrests during previous fan gatherings after Games 2, 3, and 4. The Knicks hold a 3-1 series lead over the San Antonio Spurs and are aiming for their first championship since 1973.

Attendance at these events requires prior registration. The gathering outside Madison Square Garden will be limited to 3,000 attendees. While the Central Park and MSG watch parties are free, tickets for Radio City Music Hall are priced at $10. The NYPD reported numerous arrests and citations during past celebrations, with incidents including property damage and assaults on officers.

Authorities are investigating a man suspected in an assault that left a 17-year-old in a coma after Game 4. Concerns over public safety have led to increased police presence around Madison Square Garden. Previous watch party permits were initially denied due to security concerns but were later reinstated for the finals.
