Knicks Await Finals Opponent With Record Rest
26 May
Summary
- Knicks enjoy longest rest streak in franchise history.
- Western Conference Finals tie impacts Knicks' rest period.
- Knicks aim for first Finals since 1999.
The New York Knicks are currently experiencing an unprecedented period of rest, marking the longest streak without a loss in franchise history. This advantageous situation is directly influenced by the ongoing Western Conference Finals. The series between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs is currently tied at two games, impacting the timeline before the NBA Finals commence on June 3.
A longer Western Conference Finals series means less rest for the eventual champion. Conversely, a shorter series grants more recovery time, a benefit the Knicks could capitalize on. This extended break also comes amid injury concerns for both the Thunder and the Spurs, potentially further shaping the matchup. The Knicks' impressive run has not only set a franchise record for inactivity between losses but also positions them for their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999.
