- Antonelli leads F1 in wins for a maiden championship season.
Kimi Antonelli has made Formula 1 history, crowned the youngest world champion at 20 years and 68 days old. This monumental achievement follows a second season filled with broken records.
Antonelli's victory ends a 73-year wait for an Italian F1 champion, with Giuseppe 'Nino' Farina and Alberto Ascari being the only previous Italian title holders. He is also the first champion since 2009 to have had a winless previous season.
In his remarkable maiden championship season, Antonelli has secured nine wins, surpassing records for the most victories in the same season as a driver's first F1 win. He is also a contender for the most wins in a maiden championship season, currently holding nine wins with four races remaining.
Furthermore, Antonelli joins an elite group as the fifth driver to win the title in their first or second F1 season. He is also the first champion since Keke Rosberg in 1982 to enter a season without a prior career victory.
