Kiffin Courted by LSU and Florida as Ole Miss Deadline Looms
18 Nov
Summary
- Plane spotted leaving Baton Rouge for Oxford on Monday
- Kiffin and family seen in Gainesville, Florida on Sunday
- Ole Miss giving Kiffin 1 week to decide on staying or leaving

The coaching carousel in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) is in full swing, with Lane Kiffin's future at Ole Miss becoming a major point of discussion. According to reports, a plane was seen leaving Baton Rouge, Louisiana for Oxford, Mississippi on Monday, indicating that Kiffin and his family may have been flown in to tour the LSU campus.
This development comes on the heels of a report that Kiffin and his family were spotted in Gainesville, Florida on Sunday, further fueling speculation that the Rebels' head coach is a top candidate for the open position at the University of Florida as well.
Kiffin has tried to downplay the rumors, stating after Ole Miss' win over the Florida Gators on Saturday that he "loves what we're doing here" and that any discussion about his future would be "disrespectful" to his players. However, The Athletic has reported that Ole Miss is giving Kiffin a week to decide whether he plans to remain in Oxford or explore other opportunities.
It seems that neither LSU nor Florida is wasting any time in their pursuit of Kiffin, who has established himself as one of the top young coaches in college football. With the Rebels enjoying a successful season, Ole Miss is understandably eager to keep their head coach in place, but the lure of the SEC's two most prestigious programs may prove too tempting for Kiffin to resist.
