Kevin Gausman, a prominent pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays, recently surpassed 2,000 career strikeouts. This achievement, reached in his 14th year in Major League Baseball, places him sixth on the active pitchers list. Gausman's journey began when he was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2012. He later played for the Atlanta Braves and San Francisco Giants before joining the Blue Jays as a free agent in late 2021. Since arriving in Toronto, he has amassed 841 strikeouts, with two seasons exceeding 200 K's in 2022 and 2023. His career-high for strikeouts in a single season was 237 in 2023. Gausman started the current season strongly but has since seen a dip in performance, making his consistent effectiveness crucial for the Blue Jays' injury-plagued rotation.
