KD Surpasses Nowitzki: Rockets Star Reaches New Scoring High

Kevin Durant has ascended to sixth place on the NBA's All-Time scoring list, surpassing legendary Dallas Mavericks player Dirk Nowitzki. This significant achievement occurred during Sunday's game where Durant netted 18 points against the New Orleans Pelicans, bringing his career total to 31,562 points, just edging out Nowitzki's 31,560. The Rockets secured a 119-110 victory, marking their first back-to-back wins of 2026.

In a unique display of sportsmanship, Nowitzki sent a video message congratulating Durant. He humorously stated he was "not super happy" about being passed but quickly followed with sincere admiration for Durant's scoring prowess. Nowitzki described Durant as one of the purest scorers ever, highlighting his seven-foot frame combined with guard-like skills, making him nearly impossible to defend one-on-one.

Durant expressed his respect for Nowitzki, recalling their past matchups and aspiring to achieve similar respect from teammates and fans. He aims to emulate Nowitzki's revered career. With this milestone achieved, Durant's next target is to overtake Michael Jordan, who amassed 32,292 career points.
