Texas A&M Legend Keith Mitchell Dies at 51

Former Texas A&M Aggies linebacker Keith Mitchell passed away unexpectedly on Thursday at the age of 51. Mitchell was a pivotal member of the Aggies' renowned "Wrecking Crew" defense during the early 1990s, establishing himself as one of the program's all-time defensive greats. His collegiate career at Texas A&M, spanning from 1993 to 1996, included a Southwestern Conference title in 1993 and multiple All-Conference honors. Mitchell's impressive sack numbers at Texas A&M, including 34 career sacks, place him fourth in program history, ahead of notable players like Von Miller and Myles Garrett. He also achieved the fourth-most single-season sacks with 14.5 in 1996. Despite going undrafted in the NFL, Mitchell carved out a five-year career with the New Orleans Saints, earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2000. He later played for the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars before retiring, accumulating 416 tackles and 19.5 sacks over 94 NFL games. His family has requested prayers as they await further answers regarding his cause of death.
