Zarco's MotoGP Comeback: A Medical Test Away
20 Aug
Summary
- Johann Zarco may return at Aragon GP after injury.
- A medical evaluation on Thursday will determine his return.
- Cal Crutchlow remains on standby as a potential replacement.

Johann Zarco is poised for a return to MotoGP at the Aragon Grand Prix, taking place from August 28-30. This comeback is contingent upon him successfully passing a mandatory medical evaluation next Thursday. Zarco sustained a severe knee ligament injury and a burn in a multi-rider incident at the Catalan Grand Prix on May 17. Initially, surgery was considered, but doctors opted for conservative treatment, leading LCR to anticipate a potential September return.
However, Zarco's recovery has exceeded expectations. He has actively participated in his rehabilitation, riding supermotard and Honda CBR1000RR motorcycles, as reported on August 7. This progress has accelerated his planned return. Should Zarco be cleared by his medical team, he will compete at Aragon. Cal Crutchlow, who deputized during Zarco's absence, is on standby at Aragon in case Zarco is unable to pass the final medical assessment.
