Summary
- Offensive coordinator wants Carson Wentz as top QB choice.
- Reich previously worked with Wentz on Eagles and Colts.
- Wentz struggled in 2025 with Vikings, posting a 2-3 record.

The New York Jets, looking to rebound from a 3-14 season in 2025, are reportedly considering Carson Wentz as their top quarterback target for the upcoming 2026 campaign. Offensive coordinator Frank Reich is said to favor a reunion with Wentz, with whom he has a long history.
Reich and Wentz previously worked together with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2016-2017, including Wentz's most successful season in 2017 before an injury. Reich also orchestrated a trade for Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts in 2021.
Wentz, now 33, spent the 2025 season with the Minnesota Vikings, starting five games with a 2-3 record. He threw for 1,216 yards and six touchdowns before a shoulder injury ended his season. Despite these struggles, he is expected to be healthy for 2026.
This potential move has ignited criticism, with some analysts suggesting it signals a tanking effort by the Jets. However, Wentz could be a budget-friendly option as the Jets hold over $74 million in cap space.
