Jesse Lingard has achieved a unique milestone, becoming the first British player to score in Brazil's domestic cup competition. The former England international opened his goal-scoring account for his club, Corinthians, during their Copa do Brasil fifth-round match against Barra.
Lingard netted the decisive goal, which was the only one of the game, in first-half stoppage time. This was his second start and seventh appearance for the seven-time Brazilian champions. He joined Corinthians as a free agent until the end of 2026 after leaving FC Seoul.
