The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum has unveiled a new rotating exhibition dedicated to racing legend Jeff Gordon.
This special exhibit, the first of its kind to honor a single NASCAR driver, chronicles Gordon's illustrious career. It includes 13 of his race cars and more than 70 helmets, tracing his path from early racing days to becoming a four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion.
Artifacts on display feature Gordon's first bicycle racing trophy and the firesuit from his initial sprint car victory. The exhibit, which runs through February, also includes the Williams Formula One steering wheel Gordon used during a 2003 seat swap with Juan Pablo Montoya at IMS.
Gordon, who once wandered the museum as a fan, described the experience as surreal and a dream fulfilled. He shared that the creation of the exhibit involved a months-long collaboration with Hendrick Motorsports and his parents to gather the necessary items.
