As IPL 2026 is set to commence in less than a week, Indian seamer Jasprit Bumrah has reported to the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Karnataka. It is currently unclear if Bumrah's presence at the facility is due to an injury concern or for standard health assessments. He has not yet joined the Mumbai Indians team camp.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene stated that players who participated in India's T20 World Cup victory would be granted an extended break. India secured the T20 World Cup title on March 8. Jayawardene mentioned that these players, along with overseas recruits, would join the team the following weekend, allowing for a week of training before the inaugural match.
The Mumbai Indians will kick off their IPL 2026 campaign against the Kolkata Knight Riders on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium. This marks the beginning of their pursuit for a sixth IPL trophy.
