Indian wrestler Jaskaran Singh is on the verge of an extended ban following his participation in an international tournament in Iran while serving an ineligibility period. The International Testing Agency (ITA) has formally notified Singh of a potential violation of anti-doping rules for competing during his ban.
Singh is currently banned for three years, from July 19, 2023, to July 18, 2026, due to a positive test for Ligandrol at the UWW Asian Championships in July 2023. Despite this, he competed in the Takhti Cup 2025 in Isfahan, Iran, between May 8 and 9, 2025, and secured a gold medal in the men's 65kg freestyle category.
The ITA has obtained evidence, including official results and video footage, confirming Singh's participation during his ineligibility. He has been asked to provide a written explanation by January 16, 2026. Failure to respond could lead to an automatic ban extension, with the final decision resting with the ITA and potentially the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
