World No.8 Japan concluded their group stage campaign with a commanding 4-0 victory over world No.36 Vietnam. This decisive win, following an earlier 11-0 thrashing of India, cemented Japan's position at the top of Group B. Riko Ueki, Maika Hamano, Aoba Fujino, and Kiko Seike were the goal scorers in this dominant performance.
Despite a strong showing from Vietnam's goalkeeper Khổng Thị Hằng, who made several crucial saves in the first half, Japan's relentless pressure paid off. Ueki opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a header. Hamano extended the lead in the 51st minute, followed by Fujino's curling strike in the 64th minute.
Seike sealed the demolition in the 67th minute with a shot that bounced in off the upright. The substantial defeat meant Vietnam missed out on a quarterfinal spot, with the Philippines and Uzbekistan advancing instead. Japan now prepares to face the Philippines in the quarterfinals.
