NBA Champ Jalen Williams Honored by Alma Mater

Santa Clara announced it will retire the jersey of Oklahoma City Thunder star Jalen Williams, a significant honor for the player in his third NBA season. His No. 24 will be permanently displayed after the December 3rd game against Utah Tech, joining other notable alumni. Williams' collegiate career at Santa Clara was impactful, especially his junior year where he was a finalist for the Lou Henson Award.

Williams' exceptional college performance led to him being drafted 12th overall by the Thunder. He has since surpassed his college statistics in the NBA, establishing himself as a premier player. Last season, he was an NBA All-Star, made the All-NBA Third Team, and was recognized for his defensive prowess, all while being a key factor in Oklahoma City's historic NBA Championship victory.

This jersey retirement marks another milestone for Williams, who is the first Santa Clara alumnus to win an NBA championship since Kurt Rambis in 1988. Despite a recent wrist surgery, Williams has returned to the Thunder's starting lineup and is poised to continue his impressive career, with hopes of helping his team repeat as champions.
