Ex-49er Kicker Gets New Chance with Ravens
4 Nov
Summary
- Jake Moody rejoins Baltimore Ravens' practice squad.
- Injury to Tyler Loop opens door for Moody.
- Moody seeks to solidify NFL career after 49ers release.

Jake Moody, a former third-round pick for the San Francisco 49ers, is reportedly on the verge of playing in the NFL again. The Baltimore Ravens signed Moody to their practice squad on October 19. This move comes as a direct result of kicker Tyler Loop sustaining a groin injury that placed him on the injured reserve list earlier this week.
It remains uncertain if Moody will be elevated to the active roster or simply serve as a weekly practice squad elevation. This situation represents Moody's third time with the Ravens organization this year, though it is his first chance to actually kick for the team. He initially joined Baltimore's practice squad after being cut by the Washington Commanders, was released after two weeks, and then rejoined Baltimore in mid-October.
Moody's career has been inconsistent since the 49ers let him go after one game last season. He previously kicked for the Chicago Bears, making eight of nine attempts, and then for Washington for six games, where he succeeded on 10 of 11 field goals. Since entering the NFL as the 49ers' 99th overall pick in 2023, Moody has made 64 of 82 field goals, achieving a 78.0% success rate, which ranks as the 10th lowest among kickers with at least 80 attempts since 2000.
