Gonzaga Transfer Diagne Lands with San Francisco Dons
26 Apr
Summary
- Ismaila Diagne transfers to San Francisco Dons from Gonzaga.
- USF Dons lost their entire frontcourt due to graduation and transfers.
- Diagne averaged 1.1 points and 2.4 rebounds in 28 games last season.
Six Gonzaga Bulldogs have entered the transfer portal following the 2025-26 season, with four finding new programs. Ismaila Diagne, a 7'0 center from Senegal, announced his commitment to the San Francisco Dons on Saturday. Diagne’s move keeps him in the West Coast Conference (WCC).
The Dons' frontcourt was entirely depleted due to eligibility expirations and transfers, making Diagne a key addition. He joins Abdul Bashir as coach Chris Gerlufsen's transfer portal acquisitions. USF saw ten players enter the portal after a 17-16 season.
Diagne, who was 17 during his freshman season, appeared in 10 games due to injury, averaging 3.4 points and 1.8 rebounds. In his sophomore year, he played in 28 games, averaging 1.1 points and 2.4 rebounds in 7.0 minutes per contest.
His departure from Gonzaga comes amid the expected arrival of highly-touted center Sam Funches and the pursuit of other transfer portal centers. Diagne’s size and physicality are expected to anchor the Dons defensively.
