Isak Out: Liverpool Loses Star Forward to Groin Injury
3 May
Summary
- Alexander Isak sustained a groin injury in training and will miss Sunday's match.
- The £125 million player is expected to be sidelined for up to two weeks.
- Liverpool will also be without Mo Salah, significantly weakening their attack.

Alexander Isak will miss Liverpool's upcoming match against Manchester United after suffering a groin injury during training late last week. The club's record £125 million signing had recently returned from a broken leg sustained in December and was finding rhythm, scoring in the previous fixture.
Isak's injury is expected to keep him out for up to two weeks, potentially causing him to miss next week's game against Chelsea. However, he is anticipated to play again this season. In his absence, Cody Gakpo will spearhead the Liverpool attack. Manager Arne Slot has made two changes to the lineup, bringing in Ryan Gravenberch and Jeremie Frimpong.
With both Isak and Mohamed Salah unavailable, Liverpool's goal-scoring threat is considerably diminished. Frimpong will occupy Salah's usual position on the right wing. Isak has made 13 starts this season, scoring three league goals and four across all competitions.
Liverpool also faces the absence of goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who failed a late fitness test, with Freddie Woodman continuing in goal. Long-term absentees include Wataru Endo, Giovanni Leoni, Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike, Jayden Danns, and Stefan Bajcetic.
