Isaiah Thomas Joins Celtics Front Office

Isaiah Thomas is rejoining the Boston Celtics organization in a new capacity. The former NBA guard has been hired as a pro and college scout for the franchise. He will be based in his hometown of Seattle, Washington, continuing his connection to the Pacific Northwest where he played collegiately at the University of Washington.

Thomas previously played for the Celtics from 2015 to 2017. During his tenure, he became a fan favorite and earned two NBA All-Star selections in 2016 and 2017. His time with Boston was cut short by a career-altering hip injury sustained during the 2017 postseason.

Following his departure from Boston in 2017, Thomas's career was hampered by injuries, leading him to play for multiple NBA teams. He has recently been active in pursuing comebacks, including a stint with the Utah Jazz's G League affiliate in January 2025 and a 10-day contract with the Phoenix Suns in March 2024.

Thomas has already begun his scouting duties, attending the NBA Combine in Chicago with Boston's executives. He has been involved in interviewing draft prospects as the Celtics prepare for the upcoming NBA Draft, where they hold the 27th overall pick.
