Pathan warns India of Ngidi's deception
22 Feb
Summary
- Irfan Pathan highlights Lungi Ngidi's slower ball threat.
- Ngidi's deceptive arm speed fools batters into playing early.
- South Africa tops Group D, India leads Group A undefeated.

Ahead of the Super Eight clash on Sunday, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has highlighted South Africa's pace bowler Lungi Ngidi as a significant threat to the Indian batting lineup.
Pathan explained Ngidi's effectiveness stems from his ability to deliver a slower ball with an unaltered arm speed and action. This deception causes batters to commit early to their shots, leading to wickets. Ngidi's consistent delivery around 140 km/h, with slower balls at 110 km/h, and finishes near the stumps, makes his variations particularly potent.
South Africa enters the Super Eight stage as the top team from Group D, having won all their preceding matches. They are set to face the defending champions, India, who also remained undefeated in Group A. The match is scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.
India will commence their Super Eight campaign against South Africa in Ahmedabad on February 22. They will then play Zimbabwe in Chennai on February 26 and conclude this stage against the West Indies in Kolkata on March 1.
