Inter Milan Cautious with Thuram's Return After Lengthy Injury
9 Nov
Summary
- Thuram fully recovered from muscle injury, but match fitness still evaluated
- Chivu unlikely to rush Thuram back into starting XI too soon
- Thuram likely to feature as substitute in upcoming Lazio match

As Inter Milan prepare to face Lazio at San Siro on Sunday night, forward Marcus Thuram is eager to secure a starting spot. However, manager Cristian Chivu and his staff are unlikely to take any unnecessary risks with the French international's return.
According to reports, Thuram has fully recovered from the muscle injury that sidelined him for over a month. The 23-year-old made his comeback in the Champions League midweek, featuring for around 20 minutes against Kairat Almaty.
Despite Thuram's eagerness to start, Chivu and his team are cautious about rushing the forward back into the starting XI too soon after such a lengthy layoff. As a result, Ange-Yoan Bonny is currently the favorite to partner Lautaro Martinez from the first minute against Lazio.
Thuram will likely start on the bench but be ready to make an impact as a substitute. This will give him a crucial window to rebuild his rhythm at Appiano Gentile, as he was not called up by Didier Deschamps for the November internationals.
Inter are keen to have Thuram fully fit for the demanding stretch of fixtures after the break, including the Milan derby and key Champions League clashes against Atletico Madrid and Liverpool.
