Bumrah Out, Uncapped Pacer Nabi Replaces Shami for SL Tests

Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of India's upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka due to a fitness issue. Uncapped Jammu & Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi has been named as his replacement in the squad. The selection committee, headed by chief selector Ajit Agarkar, opted for Nabi over the more experienced Mohammed Shami. Agarkar had previously cited fitness concerns as a reason for Shami's absence from Test cricket. Nabi's strong domestic record, boasting 60 wickets at an average of 12.56, earned him the nod over Shami. Shami, despite taking 37 wickets in his last seven Ranji Trophy matches, faces a challenge to prove his mettle. This decision underscores that Shami must perform exceptionally well in domestic cricket and maintain peak fitness to be considered for future Test selections.
