Indiana assistant coach Kenny Johnson has leveraged a prior relationship with Duke transfer guard Darren Harris. This connection, forged through their shared history with the AAU team Team Takeover and St. Paul VI Catholic High School, could be pivotal for the Hoosiers' rebuilding efforts. Harris, who was named the 2023-24 Gatorade Virginia Player of the Year, entered the transfer portal following his sophomore season at Duke.
During his two years with the Blue Devils, Harris averaged 3.3 points and 9.7 minutes per game off the bench. While his statistics at Duke were modest, he displayed flashes of high-level talent, including standout performances against Notre Dame and Army. Indiana faces a significant roster overhaul, having lost its top five scorers and starting point guard to graduation, making Harris a potentially impactful addition.
