The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) track and field state finals unfolded Friday and Saturday at North Central High School in Indianapolis, culminating in championship victories for Carmel's girls and Bloomington North's boys.
On Friday, the Carmel girls' team captured the state title, accumulating 49.5 points. Bloomington South finished second with 35 points, followed by Whiteland (33), Ft. Wayne Concordia (29), and Hamilton Southeastern (28) to complete the top five.
Individual standout performances included Batesville junior Ella King, who earned a podium finish in the shot put, securing fourth place with a distance of 44 feet, 0 inches. Additionally, the Batesville 4x800 team of Bayleigh Demaree, Jayla Bedel, Caitlin Raver, and Ava Wade recorded a time of 9:46.04.
Saturday's boys' finals saw Bloomington North claim the team championship with 39 points. Franklin Central secured second place with 36 points, trailed by Avon (33), Brownsburg (27), and Chesterton (26) in the top five.
Greensburg freshman Jai Jackson earned a medal in the shot put, finishing sixth with a throw of 58 feet, 11.5 inches. North Decatur senior Mason Kunz competed in the high jump, clearing a height of 6 feet, 2 inches.
