Two promising Indian teenagers, Manas Dhamne and Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi, are currently developing their tennis skills at prestigious academies in Europe. Eighteen-year-old Dhamne is training at the Piatti Tennis Academy, known for nurturing talents like Jannik Sinner. Meanwhile, 16-year-old Revathi is honing her craft at the Rafael Nadal Academy in Mallorca, Spain.
Revathi has significantly adapted to playing on clay courts this season, participating in seven tournaments on the surface. Her efforts have yielded two semi-final appearances and a notable J300 title in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, France. She is set to compete in the Junior French Open in Paris, starting May 31, marking her fifth appearance in a junior major. Her best performance in a junior Grand Slam was reaching the second round of the US Open last year.
Coach Polina Radeva emphasized the strategy of maximizing matches and building confidence for Revathi's powerful game, with the ultimate goal of transitioning to the professional tour. Revathi herself remains focused on her own performance, aiming to perform her best on any surface, rather than replicating other players. This approach is crucial as she prepares for the challenges of the senior tennis circuit.
