On October 23, 2025, Indian cricketer Pratika Rawal made history by becoming the joint fastest player in the world to reach 1,000 runs in Women's One-Day Internationals (ODIs). The right-handed opener equaled the record set by former Australian cricketer Lindsay Reeler, who had achieved the feat 37 years ago in 1988.
Rawal needed just 12 runs to cross the 1,000-run mark in ODIs. By scoring 18 runs in India's previous group stage match against England, she could have reached the milestone in her 22nd innings, breaking Reeler's record of 23 innings. However, she was dismissed for 6 runs in 14 balls in that match.
Nevertheless, Rawal's achievement is remarkable, as she reached the 1,000-run milestone in just 304 days since her ODI debut on December 22, 2024. This makes her the fastest ever to achieve this feat, surpassing the previous record held by South Africa's Laura Wolvaardt, who took 734 days to reach the same mark.
Earlier this year, Rawal had also broken the record held by current England head coach Charlotte Edwards, becoming the fastest to reach 500 runs in Women's ODIs. She accomplished this milestone in her eighth innings, surpassing Edwards' record of nine innings.
With this performance, Rawal has cemented her place as one of the rising stars in women's cricket. India will be hoping that her form continues as they look to secure a spot in the semifinals of the ongoing tournament.
