The Smriti Mandhana-led Indian Women's cricket team has secured the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead after a dominant 121-run victory in the second match. The final ODI is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara.
Despite a strong performance overall, the Indian team has identified fielding as a key area for improvement, having dropped five catches across the series so far. This includes three dropped by wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh.
With the series already won, captain Mandhana might consider resting key players such as former skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and T20I vice-captain Shafali Verma. Both players have been in excellent form, with Harmanpreet scoring a century in the second game and Shafali showcasing her aggressive batting prowess.
Such changes could provide opportunities for Harleen Deol and Yastika Bhatia, who are yet to feature in the series. In bowling, Indian spinners have been effective, taking 15 wickets, while pacers Sayali Satghare and Jintamani Kalita have been economical but less successful in taking wickets.
