India & Sri Lanka Near Test Series Deal
19 May
Summary
- India and Sri Lanka are close to finalizing a two-Test series.
- The series is expected to take place in late August.
- Additional T20Is for cyclone relief fundraising are still discussed.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are in advanced discussions to finalize a two-Test series in Sri Lanka. The matches are anticipated to occur in the latter half of August as part of the ICC World Test Championship.
The series is reportedly planned between August 15 and 27, following the Lanka Premier League. Talks are also underway for potentially adding three T20 Internationals to the tour. These T20Is were initially considered as fundraising fixtures for those affected by Cyclone Ditwah.
However, integrating additional T20s into the existing international cricket calendar poses significant logistical challenges. A previous proposal for India to play two T20Is in December 2025 for fundraising purposes did not materialize due to tight timelines and lack of broadcast coverage.
Meanwhile, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia is in Sri Lanka as part of an ICC delegation. His visit includes reviewing Sri Lankan cricket administration, particularly after the government's dissolution of the previous SLC structure and the establishment of an interim committee. The proposed India tour is expected to be a topic of discussion during these meetings.
