Ilya Solovyov has been recalled by the Pittsburgh Penguins, arriving back in the city on Sunday, October 18, 2026. The defenseman was sent to the AHL earlier in the season and played three games, notching one assist. He hopes this latest call-up offers a more permanent place on the NHL roster.
Solovyov's journey includes a past claim by the Colorado Avalanche off waivers on October 3, 2025. He scored his first NHL goal for Colorado on January 10, 2026, in a victory against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Shortly thereafter, he was traded to Pittsburgh in January 2026.
With the Penguins, Solovyov recorded five assists in 14 regular-season games and appeared in three playoff contests. He concluded the previous season with one goal and seven assists across 30 NHL games for three different teams. His consistent contribution is noted, but earning a regular spot has been a challenge.
