The Swiss Indoors Basel begins on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, with a compelling first-round clash between Hubert Hurkacz and Zizou Bergs. This matchup emerged after Bergs' original opponent withdrew, leading to a draw shuffle. Both players are coming off successful runs at the Shanghai Masters, where they both reached the Round of 16.
In Shanghai, Hurkacz defeated notable opponents, including Novak Djokovic, before falling to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. Bergs also had a strong showing, upsetting Carlos Alcaraz before losing to Tommy Paul. Their only previous meeting occurred earlier this year at the Australian Open, where Hurkacz emerged victorious in a four-set battle.
Hurkacz is favored to win this encounter, but Bergs' recent form suggests a competitive match is likely. Betting tips indicate that both players are expected to win at least one set, and the match will feature at least 24 games.
