Ex-Saint QB Hunter Dekkers Joins UFL's Houston Gamblers

Hunter Dekkers, formerly with the New Orleans Saints, has been selected by the Houston Gamblers in the UFL's quarterback draft. Dekkers, a left-handed passer, spent the last NFL season on the Saints' practice squad, facing numerous roster changes due to injury and team needs. This move to the UFL offers him significant playing time.

The UFL schedule is set to commence in late March and conclude by early June. This timeline means Dekkers could potentially return to the Saints, whose training camp begins in late July. However, the Saints might opt to sign another quarterback sooner.

Ironically, Dekkers joins the Gamblers, a franchise recently rebranded from the Roughnecks. Dekkers' college career at Iowa State was impacted by a gambling scandal, leading him to transfer. He has since accepted responsibility and is focused on this new professional opportunity.
