The Houston Rockets have launched into the NBA Cup with an impressive undefeated 5-0 record. This marks the fourth iteration of the league's in-season tournament, with Houston placed in Western Conference Group A alongside formidable opponents such as the Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns.
Currently boasting the NBA's second-highest offensive rating, the Rockets feature key contributors like Kevin Durant, Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson, and Jabari Smith Jr. They have already demonstrated their strength with a decisive victory over the Dallas Mavericks and are outpacing teams like the Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns.
While the Denver Nuggets, led by MVP-caliber player Nikola Jokic, present a significant challenge, the Rockets are expected to maintain their momentum. With a history of consistency, the Nuggets are likely to improve, but Houston's current form suggests they will at most incur a single loss in the group stage, securing their progression.
Analysts note the Rockets' favorable draw and overall talent in their group. Despite potential for teams not prioritizing the tournament, Houston's strong start and offensive firepower position them as likely contenders for a spot in the knockout rounds.
