Brandon Miller's Leap: All-Star Worthy?
30 Oct
Summary
- Brandon Miller has scored 30+ points in three consecutive games.
- The Hornets' offense ranks last in the NBA with a 102.2 offensive rating.
- Coach Charles Lee benched Naz Reid for not meeting team standards.
The Charlotte Hornets are facing a pivotal moment as Brandon Miller delivers an All-Star caliber performance, averaging 25.6 points per game and scoring over 30 points in his last three contests. This offensive surge comes as the team's overall offense falters, ranking last in the NBA with a 102.2 offensive rating.
Adding to the team's concerns, head coach Charles Lee recently benched key player Naz Reid during a game against the Detroit Pistons. Lee cited Reid not meeting "standards" as the reason, leaving fans and analysts questioning the team's internal expectations and their impact on offensive consistency. Reid had been a strong contributor, averaging 17.0 points and 8.8 rebounds.
The Hornets are also managing injuries to other players like Coby White and Grant Williams, with no clear return timelines. Kon Knueppel is making progress, with a return to the Greensboro Swarm indicating a step towards rejoining the team, potentially alleviating some offensive pressure on Miller. If the Hornets can improve their offense while maintaining their defense, they could become a competitive force in the Eastern Conference.
