13 Oct
Summary
- Hazlewood took 6 wickets for 49 runs, a brilliant display.
- Australia leads South Africa 1-0 after the first Test.
- Kagiso Rabada is set to return for the Proteas in the second Test.
Josh Hazlewood's exceptional bowling performance, including 6 wickets for 49 runs, has propelled Australia to a 1-0 lead in their Test series against South Africa following the opening match in Durban.
His spell marked his 15th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. The win echoes Australia's victory in the 2018 series opener at the same venue, though the current team aims to avoid a repeat of the Proteas' comeback.
The focus now shifts to the second Test in Gqeberha, where South Africa anticipates the return of their key fast bowler, Kagiso Rabada, adding significant intensity to the contest.
Australia faces selection dilemmas with Steve Smith cleared after a head knock and Cameron Green nearing full fitness, while South Africa looks to bolster its lineup to counter the touring side's advantage.
