Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be without their prominent fast bowler Harshit Rana for a considerable part of the upcoming IPL 2026 season. Rana underwent knee surgery in February following a knee strain sustained during a T20 World Cup warm-up fixture against South Africa. The 24-year-old is currently undergoing rehabilitation, with his exact return date yet to be confirmed by the BCCI medical team.
Rana has been instrumental for KKR in the past two IPL seasons, securing 34 wickets in 26 matches. His absence is a major concern for the team. In related squad changes, KKR has also seen the departure of Bangladesh speedster Mustafizur Rahman. He has been replaced by Zimbabwean pacer Blessing Muzarabani.
The three-time champions are scheduled to commence their IPL 2026 campaign against the Mumbai Indians on March 29, 2026, at the Wankhede Stadium. An official announcement regarding Rana's unavailability for the majority of the season from KKR or the IPL is still awaited.
