Pandya linked to shock Punjab Kings IPL move
27 Oct
Summary
- Hardik Pandya is reportedly a target for Punjab Kings for IPL 2027.
- A deal might involve Marco Jansen and Yuzvendra Chahal.
- Pandya's captaincy experience is noted, but Punjab has Iyer.
Speculation is mounting regarding Hardik Pandya's potential move to Punjab Kings for the IPL 2027 season. As of October 27, 2026, reports suggest that Punjab Kings are considering acquiring the Indian all-rounder. This potential transfer is part of the build-up to the IPL 2027 auction and could involve other players.
Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has indicated that Punjab might explore a deal that could send Marco Jansen and Yuzvendra Chahal to Mumbai Indians in exchange for Pandya. However, there has been no official confirmation of these discussions from either franchise.
Ashwin also noted that Punjab has not offered Pandya a captaincy role. This could be a crucial factor, given Pandya's successful captaincy with Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians. With Shreyas Iyer currently leading Punjab Kings, the franchise might be prioritizing Pandya as a key all-rounder and senior player.
Pandya's addition would address Punjab's long-standing need for a reliable Indian all-rounder, providing significant balance to their batting and bowling lineups. His experience in high-pressure situations could also benefit the team. For Mumbai Indians, such a deal could help rebalance their squad, although it remains speculative at this stage.
