The 2025 World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers is heating up, with Game 3 delivering a moment of high drama. In the top of the seventh inning, with the game tied 4-4, Blue Jays' first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. stepped up to the plate and poked a single into center field off Dodgers' pitcher Blake Treinen.
Next, Bo Bichette lined a 1-2 pitch up the first base line, past Dodgers' star Freddie Freeman. The ball took an odd bounce and ricocheted into shallow right field. Guerrero, never breaking stride, attempted to score all the way from first base. Dodgers' right fielder Teoscar Hernandez fielded the ball and came up throwing, but his throw was wide of the plate.
As Guerrero chugged towards home, catcher Will Smith reached to grab the ball and then dove back in an attempt to tag the Blue Jays' first baseman. But Guerrero slid in and slapped the plate with his right hand just ahead of Smith's glove, giving Toronto a 5-4 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. If the Blue Jays end up winning this game, Guerrero's incredible slide will be the play of the series so far.
