Tampa Bay had a stronger regular season record than Cleveland.

The Cleveland Guardians have taken a 1-0 lead in their American League Division Series against the Tampa Bay Rays. This unexpected victory occurred last night, defying pre-game expectations given the Rays' stronger 98-win regular season record compared to the Guardians' 85 wins.

Historically, the Guardians have faced significant challenges in the postseason.
