Top Cleveland Guardians prospect Travis Bazzana has been informed that he will begin the 2026 season in the minor leagues. This decision, confirmed by manager Stephen Vogt, means Bazzana will not be on the team's Opening Day roster.
The 23-year-old infielder, MLB Pipeline's No. 20 overall prospect for 2026, has played 111 games in the minors, with just 26 at the Triple-A level. While he showcased flashes of potential this spring and during the World Baseball Classic, the Guardians aim to give him more development time.
Last year, Bazzana played 84 games across three minor league levels, recovering from an oblique injury. In 2025, he posted a .245 batting average with nine home runs and 12 stolen bases. He is expected to earn a promotion to the major leagues later in the 2026 season if he performs well and remains healthy.
