GT vs KKR: Titans Eye Top Spot, Knights Chase Playoff Hopes

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill has won the toss and elected to bowl first against Kolkata Knight Riders in their Indian Premier League 2026 match on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Gill stated the decision was influenced by recent rain and expected better batting conditions in the second innings.

Gill confirmed an unchanged playing eleven for the Gujarat Titans, emphasizing the team's strong momentum and the importance of securing a top-two finish for an extra playoff chance.

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane acknowledged the must-win nature of their remaining three games for playoff hopes. He confirmed Varun Chakaravarthy is fit and returns to the playing XI. Rahane noted a slight moisture on the pitch but believes it won't significantly alter the game.

KKR, currently eighth in the standings with four wins from eleven matches, needs victories to remain in contention. Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, are second with eight wins from twelve games, riding a five-match winning streak.
