Griezmann's Revenge: Barca Humbled by Atletico
4 Mar
Summary
- Griezmann mimicked Barcelona's social media taunt after Atletico's win.
- Atletico reached the Copa del Rey final with a dominant aggregate victory.
- More clashes between Atletico and Barcelona are expected soon.
Antoine Griezmann channeled past grievances into a pointed social media jab at Barcelona following Atletico Madrid's Copa del Rey progression. In March 2025, Barcelona had posted a photo of Griezmann with the caption 'This photo goes very hard' after defeating Atletico 4-2. On Tuesday, Griezmann retaliated with a similar message and image after Atletico's aggregate victory, which secured their spot in the Copa del Rey final.
Atletico Madrid clinched their final berth by overcoming a 3-0 away defeat at the Camp Nou, leveraging their substantial 4-0 advantage from the first leg. This victory sets the stage for further intense encounters between the two clubs. A LaLiga fixture is scheduled for the weekend of April 4 and 5. Should both teams advance in their respective Champions League ties, a potential quarter-final matchup looms, with first-leg action at the Camp Nou around April 7 or 8, and a return leg at the Metropolitano on April 14 or 15.
