Grand Canyon's men's basketball team is set to play two exhibition games in Vancouver, British Columbia, on August 4 and 6. These games aim to help a rebuilt roster develop chemistry as they prepare for the upcoming season.
The Lopes have welcomed Dylan Darling, a former St. John's point guard, who became known for a game-winning layup in last season's March Madness. Darling's transfer is considered a significant acquisition for Grand Canyon.
Darling averaged 6.9 points and 2.6 assists at St. John's and is expected to increase his production for GCU. He joins nine new players on the team, including forwards Omaha Biliew and Amarion Dickerson, and 25-year-old veteran Tyler Behrend, who aims to add toughness.
Coach Bryce Drew highlighted the importance of physicality and chemistry in recruiting. Despite some summer injuries, Drew looks forward to evaluating new players in Canada. Returning guard Makaih Williams, who decided to stay with GCU after entering the portal, also expressed enthusiasm for the team's camaraderie.
