- He won the SDGA Match Play Championship on August 2, 2026.
- This victory capped a quest spanning over a decade for the golfer.

Brandon Sigmund, at 51 years old, has accomplished a significant milestone in his golf career by securing the South Dakota Golf Association (SDGA) career Triple Crown. This rare achievement was finalized on Sunday, August 2, 2026, with his victory in the SDGA Match Play Championship held at Moccasin Creek Country Club in Aberdeen.
The SDGA Triple Crown comprises winning the Amateur Championship, which Sigmund claimed in 2012, the Two-Man Championship (which he won twice in 2014 and 2020 with Jeff Meyerink), and finally, the Match Play Championship.
Sigmund defeated Radley Mauney 3-and-1 in the championship match to clinch the elusive Match Play title, a tournament he had been pursuing for over a decade. His path to the final included victories over Grant Campbell, Chris Long, and Carter Peterson, with his semifinal match being a particularly close contest.
Reflecting on his achievement, Sigmund expressed immense emotion and a sense of accomplishment, noting the difficulty of competing against younger players as he has aged. He described a pivotal 160-yard approach shot on the 16th hole as the "career shot" of his life, which secured his lead and confidence in the championship match.
Beyond the Triple Crown, Sigmund's impressive resume also includes victories in the SDGA Mid-Amateur and Pre-Senior individual championships. He now looks forward to potentially competing in the SDGA Senior Championships when he becomes eligible at age 55, though he is currently savoring this hard-won goal.
