Milan Striker's Goal Drought: Sell or Wait?
26 Mar
Summary
- Gimenez's transfer to Milan was valued at €32 million.
- He scored only six goals in the 2024-25 season.
- An injury-hit campaign limited his recent appearances.

Santiago Gimenez's move to San Siro in February 2025, a €32 million transfer from Feyenoord, has not yielded the expected goal-scoring returns for Milan. Despite a prolific record in the Netherlands, where he scored 65 goals in 105 appearances, Gimenez found the net just six times during the 2024-25 season.
An injury-plagued campaign significantly limited his playing time and impact. His sole goal this season was registered in a Coppa Italia fixture against Lecce on September 23. After suffering a knock in late October, Gimenez only made his return to the pitch on March 21, 2026.
Milan has adapted by sometimes playing without a traditional striker and even securing Niclas Fullkrug on loan. With the team still struggling for attacking impetus, the club may consider selling Gimenez at the next available opportunity.
