Giants Elevate Practice Squad Prospects as Veteran Kicker Gano Sidelined
28 Sep, 2025
Summary
- Veteran kicker Graham Gano placed on injured reserve
- Giants elevate practice squad players Jude McAtamney and Neville Hewitt
- Rookie RB Cam Skattebo expected to see increased touches

In a significant roster move, the New York Giants have placed veteran kicker Graham Gano on the injured reserve, meaning he will miss at least the next four games. The team has not signed a replacement kicker to the active roster, instead elevating practice squad player Jude McAtamney to handle the kicking duties for Week 4.
Additionally, the Giants have elevated veteran linebacker Neville Hewitt from the practice squad for the second consecutive week. Hewitt was utilized primarily on special teams in Week 3, recording 2 tackles.
With two open spots on the 53-man roster, the Giants have also signed defensive players Tomon Fox and Elijah Garcia from the practice squad. Fox is a core special teamer and reserve outside linebacker, while Garcia is a rotational defensive lineman and special teamer.
The Giants' decision to stick with McAtamney as the kicker for now suggests they are providing the young international prospect an opportunity to prove himself. The team held a mini kicking competition this week, bringing in veteran Younghoe Koo to push McAtamney, but the youngster ultimately won the Week 4 battle.
However, if McAtamney struggles on Sunday, the Giants may turn to the more experienced Koo as their kicker going forward. For now, the job belongs to McAtamney, but the competition remains open.
The Giants also made an interesting decision to keep only two healthy running backs, Cam Skattebo and Devin Singletary, on the active roster. This leaves the team thin at both running back and kick returner, with Turbo Miller remaining on the practice squad. Skattebo, the rookie phenom, is expected to see a significant increase in touches in the coming weeks as a result.
