Summary
- Giants' top draft picks Abdul Carter and Jaxson Dart set to play in preseason opener
- Carter excited to return to game action after 6-month break
- Rookie learning curve as NFL details differ from college

As of August 7, 2025, the New York Giants' top draft picks, including edge defender Abdul Carter and quarterback Jaxson Dart, are set to make their NFL preseason debuts against the Buffalo Bills. Carter, the Giants' 3rd overall selection, has been impressing his teammates throughout training camp and is excited to finally return to game action.
"My last game was, shoot, six months ago, something like that," Carter said. "So, it's cool to come out here, get a routine down, play football again. I'm excited." The rookie is determined to leave it all on the field, stating, "I'm putting it all on film. I'm going out there, I'm playing, I'm doing what I do best."
While the Bills will be playing several of their starters, the Giants' young guns are not intimidated. "It doesn't matter who's playing for me," Carter said. The former college standout is quickly learning that the NFL requires a higher level of detail compared to the collegiate game. "Obviously, college is detail, but I feel like at the NFL, just a higher level of detail I have got to be focused on," he explained.
On Saturday, Carter and his fellow Giants rookies will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and begin to back up the hype surrounding them. It will be their first taste of the professional game, and they are eager to prove themselves.
