New York Giants coach John Harbaugh expressed high expectations for running back Cam Skattebo, labeling him a "top-tier" talent for the upcoming 2026 season. Skattebo is anticipated to be a full participant when the Giants' veterans report to training camp on Tuesday, July 28.
Harbaugh, formerly the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, believes Skattebo embodies the qualities of a tone-setting, downhill runner who is difficult to bring down. He noted Skattebo's ability to gain yards when plays break down, a trait he observed in the player's college career at Arizona State and in his rookie NFL season.
Last season, Skattebo rushed for 410 yards on 101 carries and caught 24 passes for 207 yards before sustaining a season-ending ankle injury on October 26. In his senior year at Arizona State, he recorded 1,711 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns, setting a school record for rushing yards in a season and becoming the first player to achieve over 2,000 yards from scrimmage in a single season. He also finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting.
Skattebo, a fourth-round draft pick, is expected to return to form and contribute significantly to the Giants' offense in 2026.
