Efford & Lightsey Fuel Georgia Tech's Defensive Fire

Georgia Tech's fall camp is nearing its conclusion as the Yellow Jackets prepare for their season opener against Colorado on September 3rd. Veteran linebackers Kyle Efford and E.J. Lightsey shared insights following practice, highlighting their final fall camp experiences. Both players expressed a desire to savor these moments with their teammates during their last season. "We've got to make it count," Efford stated about his final camp. Lightsey, returning from injury, emphasized the importance of hands-on coaching and detailed preparation under Coach Semore.

Efford and Lightsey emphasized their strong partnership, entering their third year playing together. "We're partners in crime," Efford remarked, underscoring their close bond both on and off the field. Lightsey echoed this sentiment, describing Efford as reliable and crucial to controlling the defense. The linebackers also discussed the team's defensive strategy, noting Coach Semore's tailored approach to their strengths. "He puts his players in the best situation to be successful," Efford commented. The team is concentrating on improving their run defense and overall communication.

Both players drew motivation from the team's late-season losses from the previous year. "The fire is definitely still burning," Efford said, describing the losses as fuel for their current efforts. Lightsey added that the experience has led to increased attention to detail, particularly in stopping the run, which is a core tenet of Georgia Tech's identity. They are also benefiting from intense practice sessions against the team's talented running backs, enhancing their readiness for the upcoming season.
